The vocal ensemble cantus imperitus was founded in 2016 for a project of the Schwäbischen Chorverbandes (Swabian choir federation) at the national choir festival Deutsches Chorfest in Stuttgart. The members are young singers who studied at different Universities of Music and/or who can acknowledge a long choir experience. The singers come from the whole south Germany area, from Heidelberg to Stuttgart through Reutlingen and Trossingen. Its interpretaroy focus is put on ancient music (prior to 1750) and contemporary works (after 1945) with a high quality aim both technically and musically. Founder and artistic director of cantus imperitus is young conductor and cantor Nikolai Ott. The concept of the ensemble consists of an intensive rehearsal week in the Summer, followed by several concerts in the Württemberg area.
